About the project
The project “Better Integration for Separated Children” represents a joint effort between European NGOs from five different countries working to build national and European networks in order to secure the rights of separated children after they have received a residence permit in Europe.
‘Separated children’ are persons under 18 years of age who are outside of their country of origin and separated from both parents or their previous legal/customary primary caregiver.
Greater expertise regarding the rights of separated children is required if we are to ensure these rights. Better sharing of knowledge between professionals is necessary in order for separated children to receive the best possible support from the many different parts of the system.
In this project, we
- - document the challenges separated children are facing as they adjust to a new country;
- - support the building of national networks in five European countries;
- - document good practices in dealing with the challenges facing separated children and professionals; and
- - facilitate the exchange of good practices between professionals between the five countries.
“Better Integration of Separated Children” is co-funded by the European Commission’s Daphne Programme.
